Summer Work

  1.

Overview:

The magazine will stand up for the target audience. Fighting battles with the TA and not against, such as about results day, which will be one of the newer ideas for one of the magazines. This is also how it will target the target audience. Content will only include things which are relevant to the audience such as recent protests/movements. The magazine will be in the style of a fashion or art magazine, which will allow it to catch the attention of the TA, this means geometric designs, modernised look for a current affairs magazine.

Main Images:

I want to have a photoshoot for the Covid-19 magazine to have images in a town with people wearing masks and try to show the impact that some businesses have had due to Covid-19. I also want to show the impact on the environment, and how PPE is just being chucked away, and that its littering our streets.

For the results day, I would like to show relief / people being upset about their results, and even showing protests about the system and how it was unfair for the pupils.

I would like all of my images to be as simplistic as possible, I want the images to be powerful as the minimalistic approach does appeal to the TA.

Article Subjects:

The Environment, how covid has influenced the effect of global warming, positives and negatives.

Impact on Businesses

Impact on mental health

Impact on teaching and learning within schools and colleges

Impact on University and their students.

What the government will do to change the results day fiasco.

Ways to keep a clear head.

Ways to relax over the summer.

How to prep for the future.

How to get help if needed.

Mock Ups:

Contents Page:

Section Headings:

For the Covid Magazine,

The Featured section of the Contents page will consist of what's on the front page. Such as the Advise, Abide and Adapt headings that can be seen of the mock up of the front cover of the COVID-19 update cover.

On each of the contents pages there will be 'The Big Question' section which will give a question for the reader to then think about until the next issue of the magazine comes out, as this is a frequent magazine, with new issues twice a week, the reader won't have to wait long. On the page specified the question will be repeated, and the opinion of the magazine will be underneath with the answer to the last issues question. This section will allow the reader to actually think about an issue and not just read about the issue and conclude that someone else's opinion is correct, it allows the audience to reach their own conclusions.

There will also be a long read section as well. Which will include topics that the audience will find appealing such as recent protests and movements.

Photoshoot Planning:

For the covid cover I want images to be of Bodmin Town Centre With Shops Shut and boarded up.

The light needs to be fairly light, but needs good contrasting blacks and whites to allow the image to stand out.

All I will need for the photoshoot is a disposable mask for the model to wear.

Clothing needs to be fairly casual.

The pose needed is for the model to look like they are walking down next to shops which are closed.

For the Results day magazine cover,  I want the images to be of outside the sixth form centre logo, or standing outside the front of college with the logo in the background.

Again, the lighting needs to be bright, but with many dark parts, as the photo needs to display the emotion of the photo, of kids not getting the results they needed and how upset and emotional that makes them.

Piece of paper made into what looks like results, with the Bodmin College logo on it.

Pose needed is for the model to be standing up, showing off the results, or looking at the results upset.

Clothing again needs to be casual.

Magazine Branding design

Use geometric shapes, this is what I want the style to be for the Magazine. These shapes can be used as 'picture frames' for the original images that I have to include on the magazine. I would like to use a modern colour palette, use of a grey scale colour palette, use the negative space! (Pale orange to be used as the accent colour? Or Baby Blue?) Colours have to be Matte. I would like to use a sans serif font but I feel that the image above with the font of the masthead would work very well and would inked in my 'modern' style that I am looking to have on my magazine. So maybe use a serif font?? I want to have a minimalistic approach to the style of my magazine as I feel this is what makes magazines eye catching for 16-25 year olds, a modern looking simplistic magazine.  Magazine slogan:  By the People, For the People?? News made easier?? Excellence in Every Word?? Font: Cant decide on a font, I want a font as close to the one in the image above as I can.
